The Oman Medical Specialty Board held the Third Board of Trustees Meeting for 2020 under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. The meeting was held on Thursday 8th of October 2020 and attended by H.E. Dr. Hilal Al Sabti, the Executive President of the OMSB, and the members of the Board.

The meeting began with welcoming His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahad bin Aljulandi Al Said – Vice chairperson of the Board of Trustees - Vice Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, and approving the minutes of the previous meeting, following up the previous decisions and action plans, their progress and execution.

The members reviewed the recently launched Surgical Foundation Program, which is a training program for the first year trainees of the OMSB’s surgical specialties namely General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and ENT.  The evaluation form for the performance of faculty members in specialty training programs was also reviewed.

The meeting discussed the correspondence of the International Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME-I) for the specialty training programs of Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine. The members also reviewed the midterm reports for the Radiology, Hematology, and Obstetrics and Gynecology programs.

The Board members then discussed the report of the re-evaluation of Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, and a review of the accreditation reports of the training programs of Biochemistry, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The meeting concluded with a discussion of trainees' affairs and the OMSB requirements for applying for residency programs.
