The Resident is allowed to transfer from one specialty to another if the following conditions are fulfilled: 

1.  The approval of the Education Committee of the specialty in which the Resident is registered
2.  The approval of the Education Committee of the specialty to which the Resident wishes to transfer and the fulfillment of admission conditions for the specialty
3.  The approval of the sponsor
4.  The approval of the Executive Board
5. Transfer applications shall be submitted at least four months prior to the end of the academic year
6.  The Resident is required to complete his/ her current training year before he/she can transfer to another specialty at the beginning of the training year



 

Transfer Application Process

1.  The Trainee submits a Transfer Form approved by sponsor to the OMSB Admission and Registration Section.
2.  The OMSB Admission and Registration Section processes the request and refers it to the current Education Committee for their opinion/resolution.
3.  A Referral must be made to the Performance and Wellness Unit through the current Education Committee.
4.  The report generated by the Performance and Wellness Unit is sent to the current Education Committee for their final recommendation.
5.  The OMSB Admission and Registration Section refers the form to the new Education Committee for their opinion/resolution.
6.  Approval of both current and new education committees should be obtained.
7.  Applications for transfer must be submitted at least four months prior to the end of the academic year.
8.  The transfer request must be approved by the Executive Board.
9.  The Trainee should remain in his/her training program until the end of the academic year.
10.  The Trainee must complete any other requirements recommended by OMSB.

The Resident must pass the interview and any other conditions of the new training program.

The Education Committee, to which the Resident has transferred to, must recommend counting the previous training period the Resident has taken, if possible, and must also specify the level at which the Resident shall start. The recommendation should be sent to the Executive Board for approval.
